From early childhood, myths teach us the rules of behaviour in this world and how to interact with one another. The inner world of each of us is rooted in mythology.

I create my characters by channelling through myself the experiences accumulated by my ancestors. And like many generations of women before me, I embroider my story — stitch by stitch, thread by thread, helping myself to find peace in these actions.

I unite antiquity and modernity under a single mask. I photograph my children and myself. I hide all that is most precious beneath the rituals of antiquity.

I place us in a mythical forest and endow us with strength.

My embroidered forest protects.

About the technique: These unique pieces were created using hand embroidery with thread, acrylic painting over the artist’s own photographic print, and micro-perforations through the paper. Each work is unique and exists as a one-off.
