I slowly sink into the twilight of the sleepy forest, listening to the gentle rustling of the branches. The air is filled with the soft scent of damp earth and pine needles. Time gradually slows down, flowing gently through the deep cracks in the bark and becoming part of an endless cycle.
The wind rustles through the tops of the tall trees; its barely perceptible movement fills the forest with a lively, quiet hum. Drops of resin on the old trunks glisten like frozen amber tears.
My breath dissolves into a white mist in the cool air—the only sign of my presence in this vast, living space. I reach out and touch the rough bark of the tree.
I feel the world around me gradually seeping in, and I become part of it, sensing how all living things are connected by a single rhythm, a shared deep breath, the pulsing heart of the world. The forest has finally become my sanctuary, a place where I find inner strength.
About the technique:
Each piece is a multi-layered, tactile object. The base consists of a photograph taken on black-and-white film and printed onto tracing paper. The image is layered onto watercolour paper and tulle, and finished with hand-embroidery using thread.
The piece is constructed from cardboard and hardboard. The textured frame is created by hand using textured paste, acrylic paints and glazing wax to highlight the relief.
Each piece is unique and exists as a one-off.
